If you want to ski Zermatt area on a budget then look no further! This is a clean well sized apartment (for two adults) with plenty of hot water and equiped with all the essentials you need. The apartment is in the block nearest the railway line about 70 metres away (not intrusive) which is all the distance you have to walk in the morning as the special ski train stops, at a small platform, here half hourly from 7.30 till 10.00 in the morning and runs from 16.00 till 18.30 (standard train runs all day/night but stops at Taesch station) taking you in to Zermatt where you can catch the Gornegrat train or catch the (free) bus to the other lifts. If you don't want to carry your skis back and forth (although heated ski storage room back at the apartment) there are plenty of lockers at the train station. 
There village of Taesch is very traditional and well worth a look with a lovely old Hotel (with old mountaineer photos on the walls) by the railway a nice stop for coffee. We wouldn't recommend the on site resturant at Monte Rosa although adequate you can eat better for less in nicer surroundings in Zermatt. We economised by eating in every other night, either staying in Zermatt after skiing or gettting the train back in later in the evening or buying groceries in Zermatt after skiing and preparing dinner in the well equiped kitchenette. Relaxing in the quite spaceous (well by skiing standards) accomodation and taking advantage of the suana facility (about £15 an hour but you have it to yourself). 
We arrived by train at Taesch and it is quite a walk with skis and luggage (not always taxis to be found but we did not look too hard) however if you arrange your arrival to coincide with the the ski train hours voila! 
Recommend Roswitha's apartment highly also she is a charming and easy lady to talk with. We will most certainly be going back and using the apartment as the gateway to the fantastic skiing to be had in Zermatt and Cervinia :)
